Plants, Porcelain, People

BACK TO PAST EXHIBITIONS

Plants, Porcelain, People combined works by ceramicist Katie Spragg with pieces made by young people involved in the Norwich International Youth Project. Katie carried out several workshops in ceramic techniques with groups of refugees and asylum seekers, with the broad theme of plants and their role in our lives. The curator Caroline Fisher displayed these works alongside some specially commissioned porcelain sculptures by Katie, which were inspired by the plants growing in Hungate’s garden and by images of herbs in medieval manuscripts.

The exhibition ran as part of the Norfolk and Norwich Festival 2021. Caroline Fisher produced a short video about the collaboration, and there is more information on her website, as well as images on Katie Spragg’s Instagram page.
