Heritage Open Days: Hidden Nature of Hungate

Jul 3, 2020

Saturday 19 September, 10:00-16:00: Enjoy a special HODs trail around the outside of the building and the beautiful churchyard garden.

A detailed trail sheet will take you around the outside of the medieval church of St Peter Hungate spotting hidden features, whilst you enjoy the beautiful churchyard garden created by NHCT volunteers. Find the surviving gravestones, usually hidden from view, get a new perspective on the famous Britons Arms, and take a close look at the ‘Paston’ graffito by the north door. This can be followed, if you wish, by a socially distanced self-guided visit to the inside of the building.

No booking required. The garden and nave of the building are wheelchair accessible.

Unfortunately, due to Covid-19 restrictions, our toilet will not be available this year. Please note that social distancing will be observed at this event, so if the churchyard is full you may be asked to wait or come back later.
