Are you looking for somewhere very special to host a small reception, meeting or other event?

We offer a single space, the nave and chancel of the church, which has capacity for about 80 people standing, or about 40 seated. Our changing exhibition will be installed around the walls for your guests to enjoy, and the medieval pews can be moved to accommodate your event. The chancel area is suitable for use as a stage for speakers or acoustic musicians. You are welcome to use the churchyard; maintained by volunteers, this traditional lawned garden is especially nice for photographs.

The main floor is level, and with the exception of the chancel the building is wheelchair accessible. There is also a WC with level access.

WHAT WE CAN PROVIDE

Tea and coffee making facilities can be set up, and we can provide wine glasses and fruit juice jugs, although we can’t usually supply wine. We also offer projection equipment, tables and chairs suitable for presentations for up to 40 people.

FOOD

MUSIC

Hungate is not suitable for amplified music, but it has a beautiful acoustic for smaller scale live performances. Hungate is not licensed, so you should consider this before booking anyone.

FLOWERS

We always encourage our hirers to shop locally. You could consider Pick-a-Lily, or Margaret Emms Florist.

WEDDINGS

Unfortunately, because Hungate is a deconsecrated church, it is not possible to licence it for civil weddings. We do however welcome small wedding receptions.
